Corrupt Rezone

By Dan Morris, on Feb 27, 2010

It is well known that rezoning property for no apparent reason is done for one purpose and only one purpose, to put money into the pockets of one or two people.  Industrial property is worth a lot more money than rural zoned property.  I urge everyone in the Hillville  to ask the County commissioners these questions, first and most important what is the intentions for this rezone on 620 acres. Who wants to build and what do they want to build. Second ask the question who are the all of the interested parties involved.

I am proud to present a Letter sent to the Town Hall Alliance from Joan Ritchie on the 620 Acre Re-Zone to Industrial.

“Old munitions site to be zoned industrial – How does this happen???"

I am Proud to post this letter sent to the Town Hall Alliance from Kathy York of Oakville.  Hopfully with this ground swelling of opposition to this sneaky re-zoning, the 620 acres will remain as they are.

Corners cut, processes sidestepped, loopholes exploited

By Rich Johnson, on Feb 17, 2010

I am proud to present the article sent to our Town Hall Alliance by Steve Riley on this 620 Acre Re-Zoning.

After reading Commissioner Thomas A. Mattingly Sr.'s comments (Feb. 10) I feel compelled to voice my opposition to the rezoning of 620 acres in Hillville from Rural Preservation District to Industrial.

The method used to get a last-minute vote in favor of rezoning remains suspect. I would be remiss if I didn't bring to the attention to the potential impact this rezoning will have on adjacent property owners. It is a quality-of-life issue to most folks.

Where is the justification?

I don't get it. Russell, Dement, Mattingly and Raley  ignored the recommendations made by two different appraisers of the Hayden Farm. Appraisers strongly recommended that an engineer be consulted as to any development potential of "Parcel B". That advice, paid for with taxpayer money, was ignored. As it turned out, there is NO development possible of "Parcel B", 78.92 acres. This resulted in a total waste of taxpayer money. Money that could now be used to offset the deficit and reduce budget cuts.
