A Tale of Two Appraisals

Submitted by Larry Jarboe on September 25, 2010

Not everything is apparent in the politics that surround our local government.  Certainly, I did not understand why our Democratically controlled St. Mary's Board of County Commissioners pushed to ramrod the Comprehensive Zoning Ordinance quickly through three weeks ago without addressing two issues that have been brought forward by our community.

Choices are two sides of a counterfeit coin

Every four years, through a process of proven imperfection, a portion of the county's registered voters chooses our elected officials for the next four years.

Politics is a profession for which no qualifications are necessary, except to convince or confuse enough gullible people to vote for you. A politician may know nothing, but that is not an impediment to being elected.

Write in Randy Guy for Commissioner President!

Submitted by Editor on September 16, 2010

It is really easy for all those who don't want to vote for either McKay or Russell to still cast a vote and vote for the best Guy by voting for Randy Guy!   You don't need a pen or a pencil, the way to vote on a write in is explained in other postings on this website or the Board of Elections website but basically it is simple.  Just touch the voting screen next to the office where you are placing a vote and use the keyboard to write in the name of "Randy  Guy" next to President St.

Republicans need to work hard for GOP nominee to unseat Hoyer

Submitted by Editor on September 13, 2010

This election is crucial to everyone in this nation and after Republicans select a nominee to oppose Steny Hoyer they need to do more than just run their mouths, they need to dig into their pockets and support the candidate.  The Town Hall Alliance Slate needs your help to run against a well-funded Democratic slate which in the past, Hoyer has dumped thousands of dollars from his PAC.

On Thursday evening, I was honored to host a Town Hall debate/discussion in Mechanicsville at the Roofing by George meeting room.  George Hair was most gracious in donating this space for public use.

Ironically, and as expected, only the Town Hall Alliance candidates showed up to discuss issues that are especially important to residents in Northern St.

Will McKay and Dement come out and play? Hambone can ask Mommy if its okay to debate!

St. Mary's Commissioner Larry Jarboe says he has arranged for Republican voters to be able to meet and ask questions of all GOP candidates who want to show up at the Roofing By George meeting room in Mechanicsville on Thursday, Sept 9th at 7:30.   The community group fighting the proposed slaughterhouse on Reeves Road will be there and McKay's support for the slaughterhouse ought to make an interesting meeting unless he chickens out.
