A Choice Not An Echo

Hello All,
Now that the candidates have all filed for both primaries. I am honored to run for office with all of my fellow Town Hall Alliance candidates.
Randy Guy is running for Commissioner President against the last minute filing of Tommy McKay. I have worked with both men and have a few observations.
Tommy McKay had a great chance to overcome his past personna when he was elected in 2002. After a strong start as Commissioner Prez, he started campaigning against State Senator Roy Dyson within a few months of achieving local office. He got into a bad deal with an out of County developer and the Hackerman Deal is a matter of public record. With Senator Dyson's help, the same goal of securing public recreational and school site land could have been achieved legally by going thru the State Clearinghouse process. The All-Republican Board that I served upon from 1994-98 worked with Democratic Mayor Chip Norris to get the MacIntosh Run kayak launch public park acreage and buildings that house the Leonardtown winery for a paltry $14,000 by using the State Clearinghouse process.
Instead of backroom deals, these negotiations were brought forward for our public approval. There were no Christmas Eve public hearings or developers waiting behind the scenes to make a major profit. These bad deals are why I so often vote against the actions of our present Democratically controlled Board.
Tommy McKay's self imposed implosion during the last election can be blamed on no one but himself but he has claimed otherwise. Lying about the status of his college education and later blaming our secretary for his exaggeration continues to reek.
Randy Guy is a USAF veteran of the Viet Nam War. He is a former small businessman who will tell you truthfully whether or not he has a college degree. If he makes a mistake, he will tell you so and do his best to correct it. He will not put the blame on anyone else. Randy Guy has another outstanding attribute. He is honest.
There is a very distinctive choice in this contest.

Larry. All true on what you wrote. I would also like to mention that I consider Randy a good friend, and one heck of a cook.

Commissioner Candidate for District 1
It's a shame Randy Guy is a Kenny Dement supporter. According to campaign finance records, he donated $150 to Kenny's campaign on 9/18/2008.
(It's really a shame that the financial records are required to have the address of the donor to campaigns be listed on the electronic records of the State of Maryland or the person who wrote in the above comment would know that the "Randy Guy" who gave to Dement's campaign was not the "Randy Guy" running for St. Mary's Commissioner President. The Town Hall Alliance slate member, Randy Guy, says he has never given anyone that much money for a campaign and didn't give money to Dement. There are other people in the county with the same name but they aren't running for office.)
I understand that Ken Rossignol sold the best selling St. Mary's County newspaper to Mr. Clark, owner of the Tiki Bar. This is in anticipation of becoming the next County Administrator when the very competent and experienced Slate is elected. This county will benefit tremendously from the leadership he can provide - the same as happened to his newspaper will happen to St. Mary's County . I understand he plans to cut services in order to return constant yield money. Cutting taxes will almost guanantee that education, law enforcement, public safety, fire and rescue, seniors, recreation , etc will no longer be funded at a level necessary to continue to make St. Mary's County the delightful safe place it is today. Basically, you get what you pay for. The only thing the Slate appears to care about is taxes. Maybe they should be called a "Blank Slate" . Intelligent voters expect to have competent leaders who can make good decisions and have more of an agenda then taxes. It doesn't take much intelligence to always say "NO" This is what Republicans are best at.
