Hayden Farm Deal
There has never been as an unseemly land deal concocted by the backroom shenanigans of the the Good Old Boys as the Hayden Farm Deal. This deal was so rotten it stinks and rushing through the purchase by having a public hearing on Christmas Eve when citizens were occupied by family and holiday activities or out of town was a blatant poke in the eye to the people of St. Mary's County.
Complete arrogance is the best way to describe this nonsense and the Town Hall Alliance slate pledges open and honest government.
We really need to get these Good Old Boys out.
You always talk so much about the "good old boys this and the good old boys that," but it seems to me like there are an awlful lot of the "good new boys and girls" that want the taxpayers to foot the bill for all of this and much, much more. Good old boys, good new boys and girls, whatever, lets just recognize them for what they really are, a bunch of JACKASSES.
The developers and the good old boys have really outdone themselves this time. First the developer walks away from the Hayden Farm when he could have bought it for $3.5 million. Then the county pays $5.2 million and builds a new school which will allow the developers to build more houses. The developer still doesn't pay for any new infrastructure and good old boy Charlie Hayden then applies for commerical zoning for the land he kept out of the sale. The Amen Chorus of the library trustees make a big stink that they can't possibly continue to use an "old" building like the library which was built in 1954 (pay no mind that Maryland has the oldest statehouse in continuous use in the United States where one George Washington resigned his commission as Commander in Chief of the Continental Army before he was elected president) and how they really NEED a new $13 million library building built on the Hayden Farm property. And even after the Haydens sold the farm to the county, manure continues to be spread.
