Folks.  Tired of Higher Property Taxes; Backdoor Deals with Developers; and the current County Commissioners (With Exception of Commissioner Jarboe) telling you they know Better how to spend your money.  We need your help.  The Town Hall Alliance slate of candidates need to get through the Primary in September (3-9 Sept Early Vote and 14 Sept Primary) if we are to get elected in the November General Election (22-28 Oct Early Vote and 2 Nov General Election).
Kenny Dement, who has raised your taxes at every opportunity, is very busy getting his friends to change their voter registration to Republican in an effort to win the Primary and General Election.  This will result in more tax and spend, when our economy is going to rock bottom.
How you can help?  We need you to change to Republican so you have your Voice heard in the Primary for only Registered Republicans can vote for Republican Candidates in the Primary.
I have had many conversations with Independents and Democrats that are very supportive of the Town Hall Alliance in what we stand for and their current disgust of what is going on in County Government.  Yet unless they Register as Republican, their Voice will not be heard.
Please get a Maryland Voter Registration Application, fill it out, and Support The Town Hall Alliance in the Primary.  The Shipping Store in the Wildwood Shopping Center will have these Voter Registration Applications there for you to pick up.

Thomas Jefferson once said:

“All tyranny needs to gain a foothold is for people of good conscience to remain silent.”

So Do Not Remain Silent and Vote for the Republican Slate of Candidates of the Town Hall Alliance.  Thank you...

Oh yes, one more thing you can help is by donating to the Town Hall Alliance here on-line.  It is easy, and will be for a good cause.  Thanks again.

Yes, this is not time to sit back and hope for the best.  I want my Government back.

The developer's back door to County government is through their presence on the Development Review Forum and the RPD Task Force. These groups were formed as temporary ad hoc advisory panels with specific tasking, however they have since morphed into quasi-planning commissions that help LUGM and the BOCC re-write the zoning ordinance.  How can the development community honestly be expected to provide objective recommendations on the zoning ordinance? They meet monthly with top County staffers in a back room at LUGM. Do ya think these busine$$men are simply donating their time for the good of the County???

This backdoor needs to be closed, and I'd love to see Larry Jarboe make the motion in open session.

Walter Burch

Walter,

As I recall,  the DRF was formed back in 1995 to simplify the process on both sides (private sector and gov't) to save time and money.  As with most of the 60+ commissions, we receive an annual condensed report of the selected DRF highlights rather than extensive minutes or taped review.

I was not aware of any ethical conflicts nor did Bob Elwood who sits on the Ethics Commission inform me of any misconduct he had witnessed during his attendance of the DRF proceedings.

Please forward a written request to all the commissioners of your desire to disband the DRF through our mail log at: St. Mary's Board of County Commissioners, Governmental Center, Box 653, Leonardtown, Md. 20650.

You have obviously put much time and study into this issue that should be shared with all the County Commissioners prior to making a decision.

Consolidating the large number of agencies is a very good idea.  Recently, the Commission on the Environment absorbed the Solid Waste Committee.  I have recommended that we cut our administrative staff in half for a very large recurring annual savings of $800,000.00.

Let us open up the dialog through the public process, listen to all sides, and take appropriate action.  Walter, I am grateful to hear the rest of the story about the DRF, but all the commissioners should hear that from you as well.

Thanks!

Larry Jarboe
