Town Hall Alliance recruiting angry homeowners
Are you mad as all get out about your taxes going up while the value of your property has dropped? You aren't alone. In fact, the four commissioner candidates of the Town Hall Alliance slate are running on a platform of holding the line on higher taxes.
This is a promise that will be kept and a keen eye on the reorganization of county government is one of the ways the Town Hall Alliance slate will keep their promise. Incumbent Commissioner Larry Jarboe of Golden Beach, is part of this team and he has the experience to know where to look to bring about efficiencies in county government, has in fact provided a $6 million budget cut to the existing fiscal year budget which was ignored by Krazy Kenny and the Taxocrats. The St. Mary's Commissioners ignored Jarboe's pleadings to cut costs and avoid a tax hike and then the bottom fell out of state funding to the county and the Board had to take their freshly minted budget and just like Jarboe said, had to cut $6 million. The trouble is with this action is that the Board failed to make the cuts from the Jarboe committee and already failed to cut the tax rate to make up for increased assessments. Spending on out of town travel by county employees such as the junket to New York City by the Board last week for the bond rating, which can be accomplished via pdf files, cost the taxpayers lots of money to pay for the commissioners and staffers to stay in fancy Manhattan hotels and to dine out with you picking up the bill.
Its all about your money. Join the Town Hall Alliance and help put an end to the waste, fraud and abuse and conserve the resources of the taxpayers for the real priorities of government, public safety and law enforcement, fire protection, rescue services, education, roads and transporation. The frills and travel by land use staffers to Las Vegas and Myrtle Beach costing up to $5,000 a trip, even a staffer going to the Paris Air Show, means that there is less money in the kitty to provide services for senior citizens or to pay for fuel for school buildings.
When the subject of holding the line on Tax Increases was addressed to Kenny Dement, he said there was no way Taxes could be lessoned for all the services we get would be cut. Well, the County does not pick up my trash, for I still have to go to the transfer station. What Services is Kenny talking about?
Kenny Dement was okay as a commissioner when he was first elected and voted with Jarboe and McKay to hold down taxes. In 2006, he was only one of two Republicans and quickly came under the spell of Dan Raley and Tommy Mattingly who always vote to raise taxes. Dement quit listening to the public and went for the gold. Good bye to Dement and since he doesn't even live in Piney Point anymore and spends all his time at his friend's house in Wildewood it means the Eighth District now has two commissioners. Maybe Dement should just refile from Lexington Park where he now lives. But I sure won't vote for him whereever he moves to. He likes to raise my taxes and I like to vote against those who do.
